Hi, I'm Tony Fawcett and I am standing in the election in May to be your County Councillor in the Warsop Division. I've lived in Nottinghamshire for over 25 years now, and I see Warsop and the wider area around it as a place with untapped potential. Sadly, in past years this potential has not been realised and the area has been left to decline by the big political parties. It is time to look for alternatives in order to make our community a better place for all.
For too long now, new houses are being built up on our wonderful open spaces (many of which are unaffordable!) - but where is the infrastructure to support this? The sewage systems and other utilities are creaking at the seams, and there is little in the way of public services like healthcare, schools and social care to support further growth. The roads have become such a state that our cars are being damaged, cyclists risk injury, and our bus services resemble rollercoaster rides! I will urge the council to invest in more sustainable development, improved public services, and support for local businesses and people in order to make Warsop a more pleasant place to work and live.
Having a Green Party Councillor representing you means that the views of the local area will be listened to - we do not have to toe a party line unlike the major parties, and we can vote in the best interests of our community. I promise to be a Councillor that is visible in the community, is fair to all, and is available to listen to your views and issues - and not just someone who appears every four years at election time.
